What does a cure for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) look like?

We recognize there may not be agreement between providers, researchers, and the patient community on how exactly to define a cure. But, in our efforts to accelerate promising gene therapies for the disease, the Cure Sickle Cell Initiative (CureSCi) continues to advance our understanding of what symptoms can be eliminated or relieved, and what may continue to be life-long needs for people living with SCD.

An important part of our work is to share information and resources so people living with sickle cell disease can learn more about potential cures, talk with their providers, and make informed decisions about whether gene therapies may be right for them.
